2001 I designed my first website for Steve Dragon. What you see
here is that cite with the text edited as a tribute to his memory.
Steve and Lakkhana's friends are putting together a book for
On June 15, 2001, on Father's Day, Steve Dragon was remembered at Our Lady of Malibu Church in California. Prayers were sent to his family. "Steven Joel Dragon, 63, of Kapoho died May 14, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Pennsylvania, he was a retired film crew operator and member of the Kapoho Beachlot Association. Private service. Survived by wife, Lakkhana Mongkolyong Dragon of Kapoho; son, Nicholas Skidda Dragon of Kapho; daughter, Suchada Lilly Dragon of Kapoho; sister, Mary Ann Neely of Texas..."
"..Steve will be deeply missed by family and friends. His generosity of spirit and appreciation of nature gave many folks experiences of renewal. Steve's daily practice of swimming and flute playing were inspirational to all who knew him. Seals would follow him swimming, Krishna would smile hearing his flute, and tears flow as we appreciate Steve and experience this loss."
Dragon was also a construction worker and built two beautiful Asian styled homes with arched roofs on his property. Steve built stage sets in Hollywood, that he enjoyed sailing on the ocean. What else has been left out? "Steve was an inspiration for all of us. With his generosity, his kindness and his determination to not accept the status quo he built not only beautifully light houses but also community. In some ways, he was larger than life. We miss him deeply. Our thoughts are with his young family." Peter Cornelius "I did not know him very well. - just from afar...I'm very sorry to hear of his passing. I always admired his love of the ocean and outdoors." Terri, (an excellent swimmer in her own right!)
From Bruce Campbell Adamson: "Steve
Dragon was a true inspiraction and friend. In 2001 he told me
that the best thing he did in life was to have kids. He left
a 2 year old daughter and an 4 year old son Niki. Steve had so
much going for him and so much to live for. He loved his family
and had many many friends in the Hilo and Santa Cruz County areas.
Steve
will be missed by many from Santa Cruz and Pahoa areas. The real
tragedy is that his family will morn for a long time, for no
one can replace Steve and his graceful ways. For this reason
and the sudden news was truly a shock. Because of the lost I
felt for the family I found it very upsetting. Aloha Steven Dragon
we all will miss you! ![]() ![]() ![]()
